Meet Marc Dobson who, with Larry Jacobs, is the Co-owner of Hahndorf Hill Winery and winner of Cellr’s 2020 James Halliday Top 100 wines competition.
Last year Cellr offered all wineries placing in James Halliday’s Top 100 wines for 2020 the opportunity to win a complete D2C Digital Wine Label package valued at $2,900. The prize not only provides the Top 100 wineries the opportunity to promote their award, but also to connect customers directly with their own unique marketing content. Tell us a bit about Hahndorf Hill Winery, its Top 100 wine(s) and why Hahndorf Hill decided to enter it in Cellr’s Top 100 competition?
Hahndorf Hill is a boutique winery situated outside the historic, German-heritage town of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. We specialise in Austrian-variety wines, such as Grüner Veltliner, Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt.
Our Top 100 wine is the Hahndorf Hill 2020 White Mischief Gruner Veltliner, which is a pretty unique wine as it is our New World interpretation of Grüner Veltliner, whereas the other Grüner’s in our range reflect more the traditional, Old World styles that are usually marketed. We entered into your competition because the prize seemed like a great opportunity!
Why do you think it is important to connect directly with wine consumers?
The Australian wine industry is one of the most competitive in the world, with thousands of labels jostling for attention. The Cellr Engagement Platform is an opportunity to reach out and whisper directly into the customer’s ear.
What is Hahndorf Hill most excited about when it comes to connecting its wine with Cellr’s Customer Engagement Platform?
The interactive element is exciting, in that the customer can pick up the bottle and instantly learn more about the wine and engage with the brand story.
What is the story Hahndorf Hill wants to tell consumers when they pick up a bottle of Hahndorf Hill wine?
That our wines are different, beautifully made and well endorsed, and that they will titillate your dining table like never before.
Does Hahndorf Hill have any marketing campaigns they are running at the moment, or plan to run through Cellr?
We have the campaign which we won with the Top 100 prize!
